Partner Notifications

Logentries Alerts also give you the option to send a alert to one of our many partner integrations such as Slack, HipChat, PagerDuty and Campfire. The following doc will cover how to set these notifications up.

Slack Notification

Login to your Slack Account and navigate to your #general drop down menu and select “Add a service integration…”

This will bring up the Slack list of integrations. Scroll down until you come to the Logentries service and click on the “Add” button.

You can choose a channel in which to apply this integration. Select whichever channel you wish and select “Add Logentries Integration”. This will bring up the Integration Settings page. Copy the Webhook URL. This will be pasted into your Logentries’ Tags / Alert page under the Slack notification settings.”

Go to your Logentries’ account, set up your Tag / Alert you would like to send from Logentries to Slack. Set up your normal Tag Label, pattern and Alert settings. Select Slack from the “Add an Alert” Section. Be sure to paste the Webhook URL in the Slack settings on this page.

Disabling Context in Alert

In cases were your log data may contain sensitive data you may wish to send an alert which does not contain any log data in the body. To remove context from your alert simply deselect the Include context checkbox in the Slack settings in the UI.

HipChat Notification

Log into your HipChat account and go to the Accounts Setting page. From here select API Access. You will now be able to configure HipChat to give you a API Token to be used when configuring your alert.

Enter in a piece of text under the Label form and then select Send Message and Send Notification from the list of Scopes

Now log into your Logentries Account and create an Alert. After setting the Name and Pattern scroll down to the Add an Alert section. Select the HipChat option form the list of integrations.

Insert your HipChat Room Name and the API Token that was generated by HipChat. Finally save your alert.

PagerDuty Notification

Log into your PagerDuty account and go to Services Tab, select the PagerDuty service you wish to notify and you will get its service key.

Now log into your Logentries Account and create an Alert. After setting the Name and Pattern scroll down to the Add an Alert section. Select the PagerDuty option form the list of integrations.

Paste in the service key we obtained from PagerDuty and add in a description of the event. Finally save your alert.

CampFire Notification

Log into your CampFire account. Select a Room which you wish to send an notification to. Copy the URL for this room e.g subdomain.campfirenow.com/room/123456. Now obtain your API Token by clicking on the My Info button.

Now log into your Logentries Account and create an Alert. After setting the Name and Pattern scroll down to the Add an Alert section. Select the CampFire option form the list of integrations.

Add in the subdomain, the Room ID and API Token for your CampFire Account. Finally save your alert.
